Setting Up A FREE Ventrilo Server!

Jono here and today I’m going to be tell YOU How to get a FREE ventrilo Server
(~ PS i will not be telling you how to Port-Forward Or Use your Ventrilo server in the client just how to edit the Sever files, i will tell you them a different day.

Reasons to Have Ventrilo:

If you have a site that lots of people use and may want to chat on.
If you own a clan on a game it could help.
Businesses may use it to talk to other staff members.

Now,

We are going to install a free server to our computers (I may install a payed one at a later date.)

First, go to here and select the client you wish to download.

Then go back There and go down a bit and download the right server for your PC (eg. OS)

(P.s.s the following tutorial is for windows Vista, i doubt the different Os’s differ from this tutorial)

Now open the downloaded file.

This will Open:

Click the “Next >” button

Then this will open:

Select the “I accept the license agreement” and click “next >”

Then:

Enter The Information it asks for and click “Next >”

Then:

Select where to install it.

Then: click the “next >” button two times.

It will then install after it has installed click the “finish” button the window will now close.

WELL DONE YOU NOW HAVE A VENTRILO SERVER!!!

Next step, Setup.

Now,

Go to where you installed it:

Open the ventrilo_srv.ini file

You will see a long list of settings:

Phonetic= TTS Name

Auth= Unknowen (keep 1)
Duplicates= Are Duplicates accounts allowed (1 no, 0 Yes)
AdminPassword= (your password)
Password= (Password to enter Sever (leave blank for no password
SendBuffer=0 (leave)
RecvBuffer=0 (leave)
Diag=0 (leave)
LogonTimeout=5 (leave)
CloseStd=1 (leave)
TimeStamp=0 (leave)
PingRate=10 (leave)
ExtraBuffer=0 (leave)
ChanWidth=0 (leave)
ChanDepth=0 (leave)
ChanClients=0 (leave)
DisableQuit=0 (leave)

SilentLobby=0 Can people peek in lobby (0=yes, 1=no)

save it and click the ventrilo_srv.exe file to run your server
