Whodunit? How the Clue Slot Works
The base game of online Clue slot game uses the very popular 5×3 reel set up, which pays from left to right. The game has a total of 30 win lines and you’ll win when lining up at least three symbols in a row on one of those lines.
You won’t find the happiest set of symbols on the reels! There’s a dead body (fortunately you only see the legs lying prostrate on the floor), a variety of murder weapons, a crow which adds a sense of foreboding to the game and a golden trophy. The most important symbol in the game is the mansion where the murder takes place, as this acts as the bonus symbol, opening up all the varied bonus features.
Characters and Rooms – The Progressive Clue Slot Bonus Features
To enter the bonus feature you’ll need to land the mansion symbol anywhere on the reels at least three times or more. Here is a rundown of all the bonus features you’ll find in the free Clue slot game:
- Choose Your Character – The first bonus feature asks you to ‘choose your character’ from Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum and Mrs. White. Having chosen, this character will now become stacked on the reels, making those multiple wins across a number of win lines much more likely.
- Time to Add Wilds – Here you are presented with an antique clock, although instead of telling the time, a series of random numbers replace the traditional one to twelve. The clock hand will spin and rest on one of these numbers, which will represent the number of wilds that will fill the reels on the next spin. You could even find yourself with 15 added wilds, which will fill the reels completely.
- There are six different bonuses based around each room in the house – four of these are initially locked and you’ll unlock them as you progress through the game.
- Kitchen Feature – You’ll continue spinning until you collect five knives or poison symbols. The knives will expand to fill a reel with wilds when appearing, while each poison will act as a wild with an added multiplier.
- Ballroom Bonus – During this feature you’ll see a series of dancers waltz into the ballroom, these acting as a set of reels for a free spins round. After each ‘spin’ one of the symbols will disappear from these ‘reels’ – less symbols means more chance of a big win.
- Billiard Room Bonus – This bonus feature adds billiard balls to the reels as additional wilds. At the end of this feature you’ll receive a ‘super spin’ where all the wilds collected so far return to the reels, making for a potentially large win.
- Conservatory Bonus – This feature begins as a free spins round, but every time you land a needle on the reels, you’ll go to a pick’em round where you’ll find five musicians. Each pick can give you an instant credit win or further free spins.
- Library Bonus – Here you’ll find yourself staring at a large bookcase. Pick each book in turn to reveal a credit amount, while a secret passageway can be revealed which leads to bigger prizes.
- Dining Room Bonus – This is another pick’em round where you’ll choose three dishes for each guest in the dining room, with a prize attached for each.

In addition to these bonus features, you’ll also find a ‘lights go out’ bonus feature, where you’ll be assigned one of the above features randomly. After any bonus feature you could also be given the opportunity of solving the crime – picking the murderer, the weapon and the room.
Should You Roll the Dice with the Clue Slot?
The Clue slot machine is one of the most expansive and enjoyable slots on the casino floor. The online version offers a no download & no registration demo. It’s unusual to find any slot with so many features, but the best aspect to this game is the fact that each of the features is very different. The billiard bonus builds to the exciting ‘super spin’ conclusion, while the conservatory bonus is potentially endless as you keep gaining those additional spins. The game is colorful throughout, while managing to stick to the original game brilliantly. It’s a tough ask to convert a popular board game into a casino slot, but WMS have done an amazing job here – this is a must play.

You know how movies inspired by popular board games are almost always, well, uninspired? Oddly, slot machines based on board games are almost always great. It’s one of the many mysteries of our universe. Like why anyone would prefer Twizzlers over Red Vines. Moving on.
One of the newest board game-inspired additions to the casino floor, exclusively at Total Rewards (Caesars Entertainment) casinos at the moment, is Clue. This timeless game translates perfectly to the slot machine realm, and you can get a feel for it with a free, online “mini-game” simulation thingy. Try it out.
This ain't your grandpa's cherry and melon symbol three-reeler, folks.
In the Clue slot machine, you start your game by choosing one of the classic characters from the board game, ones you probably know by heart: Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mr. Green, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard or Mrs. Peacock. There are seven bonuses throughout the Clue mansion as players try to solve the mystery of who did what, with which weapon and in what room.
Here’s a snappy promotional video with some highlights of the Clue slot machine. We’re not sure that voice-over guy is actually British, but we’re going to let it slide because the game’s so fun.

Obviously, there’s a lot of entertainment value here, with tons of twists and turns, and after every bonus round, you get to guess the suspect, room and weapon for a shot at winning a “Solve-the-Mystery Progressive” jackpot. Which, to this blog, sounds like a good thing.
You could make a killing at this slot. We totally stole that line from the game's Web site.
As you play, you accumulate “Sleuth Points” which help open up new rooms. We tend to like hanging out in the Conservatory, just because we think it sounds cool, despite all the, you know, murders.
Here’s another cool aspect of the new Clue slot. When you play the free Clue “mini-game” online, you can unlock bonus rooms which you can then take advantage of when you’re playing in the real-world casino. Just make sure to log in with your Total Rewards player loyalty number. It’s free to join, of course, and you can sign up online, too.
